GRACE so AMAZING! by Vera McIntire

You may wonder why I’m calling this teaching “Grace So Amazing”. Allow me to share with you the definition of grace found in the 1828 Noah Webster Dictionary. I will now read to you what the Dictionary says about GRACE concerning Christians.

GRACE: The free unmerited love and favor of God, the spring and source of all the benefits men receive from him. The application of Christ’s righteousness to the sinner.

Now that we know what GRACE is, we will look at Scripture to find out why God’s grace is so amazing!

The Old Testament only uses the word Grace only 38 times. The first time it is used in the Old Testament is in Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. But, the New Testament uses the word 122 times. The Apostle Paul uses the word GRACE, to begin or end each of the Books he writes in the New Testament.

Let’s look at what the New Testament has to say about Grace. Why is the word, “GRACE” so important? In the Bible, “GRACE” is why we have our sins removed through Jesus, because the Bible says in Romans 3:24 “Being justified freely by his GRACE through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

We cannot be saved by works. Good works cannot save us any more than bad works can save us. God looks at our works all the same. Romans 6:11 and Ephesians 2:9 tell us , And if by grace, then is it no more of works:.. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Before I became a Christian I believed in God, but I didn’t know the God of the Bible. But God showed me GRACE. He had a school friend invite me over and over to go to church with her. I made excuses, and more excuses not to go. While I made excuses God prepared my heart to hear the GOSPEL OF GRACE that the Apostle Paul gave us. She kept asking and finally I went with her. She never gave up on me. The Bible tells my testimony like this, “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) 2Corinthians 6:2

Since the day I got saved I have stumbled many times and have fallen many times since that day. But yet God’s GRACE was still there to pick me up every time since the day I first believed. Here are the Scripture reasons that I could keep getting back up.

2 Corinthians 12:9 …And he said unto me, My GRACE is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness, Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

In closing, I say that I would not be saved except by GRACE OF GOD. I am kept by the GRACE OF GOD. And the GRACE OF GOD keeps me clean by His shed blood on the Cross of Calvary. Let me show you in the Scriptures how Jesus keeps me cleaned up all the time.

1John 1:8,9 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

And in closing let me say, Amazing Grace How Sweet the Sound..

Please sing with me the first two verses of the song, Amazing Grace!

Amazing grace! how sweet the sound! That saved a wretch like me! I once ws lost, but now am found: Was blind , but now I see. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed!
