Baptists can trace their history back to, and through the Dark and Middle Ages. I can find current Baptist Churches in my West Virginia county established and built in the 1700’s and 1800’s. The oldest Pentecostal Church I can think of in my county was built around the 1970’s, and I cannot think of one Charismatic Church that old. These trends can be found in rural and metropolitan areas throughout the United States.
Are you wandering why one cannot find a Pentecostal or Charismatic Church that is at least 100 years old? Because there aren’t any! The Charismatic movement started in 1904 on Azuza Street in Los Angeles, CA. I do not believe the God of the AV1611 Holy Bible waited until 1,900 years after starting churches of the Lord Jesus Christ to reveal the peculiar beliefs and non-Biblical practices of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Cults.
